In my four classes in Communication Arts, we’ve been exploring the impact of social networking on communication and information sharing. This prompted me to develop a quick and easy way to explain the social bookmarking site del.icio.us to my students (and as an aside, I was surprised how few of them had heard of social bookmarking).

Today, I will take about 30 minutes to cull through my own bookmarks at del.icio.us and tag them for each of my classes. That way, my students will be able to see sites that I’ve marked specifically for them. And I’m encouraging them to create their own del.icio.us accounts and share their bookmarks with each other and with me.
